Asia

Farmed Shrimp Production and Certification

Working with experts on the ground in ten Asian countries, the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP), an NGO that creates tools and methodologies that allow companies to directly engage with suppliers of natural resources, has published a study that focuses on Asian shrimp market dynamics and sustainability.  The study was conducted in in early 2015 in an effort to fill the gaps in publicly available information regarding the production and trade of shrimp in Thailand, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Philippines, Myanmar, and Cambodia.  It contains some good data, albeit some of it dated, on world shrimp production and the amount shrimp that is being certified by the major certification agencies.
