Job—ARC Research Hub for Advanced Prawn Breeding

 

   

 

The Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Research Hub for Advanced Prawn Breeding has a position open for a research worker.  The successful applicant will maintain a range of research and farm-related activities that are undertaken at commercial prawn hatcheries and farms.  The job will be based at the Seafarms hatchery in Innisfail, Queensland, but will require travel to other Queensland locations (Cardwell, Townsville, Brisbane and Bribie Island).

 

Requirements:

 

• Participate in the construction and maintenance of research facilities and growout systems

 

• Participate in production, rearing and monitoring of broodstock

 

• Shipment of live animals

 

• Tissue sampling

 

• Collection, storage, checking and preliminary analysis of data

 

• Knowledge of data collection techniques relevant to genetic experiments would be advantageous

 

Duration of Employment: April 7, 2015, to October 6, 2015 (with the possibility of an extension, dependent on funding and performance)
