Tasmania—Rock Lobster Job

 

King Island Marine Research, Pty., Ltd., a lobster hatchery involved in aquaculture and breeding research of the southern rock lobster (probably Jasus edwardsii), has a scientific position open for a full-time project manager.  The applicant must have experience with the life cycle of the southern rock lobster.

 

Salary: $63,444 a year.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

• Managing laboratory-based experiments and research on lobster development, from eggs to juveniles

• Overseeing and managing technical programs and a lobster breeding facility

• Managing all aspects of the lobster aquaculture process including: nutrition, feeding, disease control
and system design

• Breeding the southern rock lobster

 

The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:

 

• A postgraduate degree in marine biology

• Ten years of aquaculture experience with the southern rock lobster

• Hatchery management experience

• Project management skills
