Agency Urges That Shrimp Diseases Be Checked Out

“Unofficially”, The International Regional Organization for Plant and Animal Health (OIRSA) has become aware of increasing mortalities on shrimp farms in Central America, but it is unaware of any official document saying the mortalities are linked to early mortality syndrome (EMS).

ORISA said: “We...recommend that competent authorities...take the appropriate and urgent measures in coordination with the shrimp sector to work closely and actively in monitoring and diagnosing these mortalities, in order to establish what is the causal agent and establish alternative solutions to the current problem.”
