Composting Shrimp Wastes

 

Ecuador’s shrimp processing industry generates large volumes of waste (heads and shells).  Through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Water in the Canary Islands is collaborated with the Lay University Eloy Alfaro in Ecuador to develop methods for composting shrimp waste into soil amendments.  Researcher Federico Laich is study the microorganisms involved in the process.
