Honduras

Joint Venture Feed Mill Completed

On August 10, 2013, a joint venture between Nutreco/Skretting, Gisis Ecuador and Regal Springs, which farms tilapia in Mexico, Indonesia and Honduras, opened a new aquafeed plant in Honduras.  The $11.5 million plant will produce feed for the Regal Springs’ tilapia farms in Honduras and shrimp feed for the local and export market.

Viggo Halseth, chief operating officer of Nutreco Aquaculture, said: “Production here is aligned with our strategy to increase our market share in Latin America and to increase sales of feed for non-salmon species.  The partnership in Honduras is a consequence of the acquisition of Gisis in Ecuador which was finalized in June 2013”.
