A Little More About White Patch Disease

Daniel Gruenberg  (seagardenfoods@mac.com) reports on The Shrimp List about white patch disease, a new bacterial disease caused by Bacillus cereus.

It’s quite a ubiquitous species that is a natural part of the rhizosphere as well as a natural gut flora in Arthropoda.  It also has a highly resistant spore and the toxins it carries are encoded by a plasmid.
