Price Drop Aggravated by Rising Rupee

The Economic Times of India has called the past year a “dream run” for Indian shrimp exporters, as shortages of shrimp from major competitors and the explosive growth of Indian shrimp output, have pushed India to the top ranks of global shrimp suppliers.  Indian exporters benefitted from strong production and high prices.

Now the environment is changing.  Production continues to be heavy, but over the last month, shrimp prices have been dropping, and the rupee has been rising, which makes Indian shrimp more expensive on world markets.
