Prices Increase on Weak Supplies

Farm-gate prices for whole shrimp will probably continue to rise into 2016, as production from ponds continues to drop because of slow growth, floods and farmers’ reluctance to stock their ponds for fear of disease.  Large shrimp—30 count and up—are in short supply.  On November 23, 2015, 30-count whole shrimp were selling for $7.02 per kilogram, up $0.30 from the previous week.  Smaller shrimp were also increasing in price.
