Report from The Shrimp Club of Indonesia

Iwan Sutanto, president of the Shrimp Club of Indonesia, a shrimp farmers association, reports:

The Shrimp Club of Indonesia (SCI) has about 500 members, and all of them are enjoying the highest shrimp prices ever!  Indonesia, one of the largest shrimp producers in the world, does not have EMS/AHPND. Broodstock and postlarvae are mainly produced locally to make sure diseases are not imported from other countries. SCI recommends that farmers use an integrated farm management approach that incorporates nutritional and environmental aspects.  Many farmers use biofloc and semi-floc systems to balance the pond ecosystem.  Many abandoned farms are now back in business.
