Aquaculture Stewardship Council's Shrimp Certification Standards

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)—an independent nonprofit organization founded in 2010 by the World Wildlife Fund and The Sustainable Trade Initiative to manage global standards for responsible aquaculture—has finalized its standards for certifying shrimp farms and will now begin registering shrimp farms.

Information: For a 144-page PDF describing the standards, click here.  If that does not work, copy and paste the following URL into your web browser: http://www.asc-aqua.org/upload/ASC%20Shrimp%20Standard_v1.0.pdf.  It’s a big document.  Give it a couple of minutes to download and open.

Information: Chris Ninnes, CEO, Aquaculture Stewardship Council, P.O. Box 19107, 3501 DC Utrecht, The Netherlands (email info@asc-aqua.org, webpage http://www.asc-aqua.org/index.cfm?lng=1).
