Farmed Shrimp Production in 2014

According to a report from Nicaragua’s Centre for Export Procedures (CETREX), revenues from farmed shrimp exports in 2014 totaled $107 million, compared to $150 million in 2013.  The decline reflects a decrease of 2.9 percent in the international price of farmed shrimp, which fell from $6.13 to $5.95 per kilogram, and a reduction of 29 percent in export volumes.  The report also said that Nicaragua produced 62.7 million pounds of farmed shrimp in 2014, 23 percent more than in 2013.
