Panama

EMS Free

In response to reports of shrimp diseases at some shrimp farms in the central Panama, the Animal Health Directorate of the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) ran tests for early mortality syndrome (EMS).

MIDA concluded that the diseases were triggered by bacterial agents related to Vibrio and Pseudomonas species, which cause a bacterial sepsis syndrome in farmed shrimp.  They do not cause EMS!

Using the EMS TOX1 Test Kit for EMS, all samples turned out to be negative for EMS.
