Camposol Holdings—Sales of Farmed Shrimp Boost Earnings

Camposol Holding, Ltd., is the leading agro industrial company in Peru.  It’s involved in the harvest, processing and marketing of avocadoes, asparagus, blueberries, grapes, mangos, peppers, artichokes, tangerines—and shrimp.  It exports them to Europe, the United States and Asia.

On November 17, 2014, Camposol acquired INY SA and Pesquera ABC S.A.C., two of the countries largest shrimp farms, which together, in 2014 had revenues of $43.8 million and earnings of $4.9 million.  After these acquisitions, Camposol owns approximately 1,300 hectares of shrimp ponds, as well as three shrimp processing plants.

In the first quarter of 2015, Camposol’s earnings were up 0.9%, compared to the first quarter of 2014, mainly because of increased sales of shrimp, other seafood products and blueberries.  It had lower sales of mangos and asparagus.  Total sales in the first quarter of 2015 were $72 million, up 18.6% from the first quarter of 2015.

On of March 31, 2015, Camposol had a cash balance of $28 million.

“Within the next two years, we will see an important growth in our volumes of blueberries, shrimp and avocados,” said Samuel Dyer Coriat, Executive Chairman of Camposol.
