Study Tour of Shrimp Farming

 

The Institution of Aquaculture Singapore (IAS) has organized a study tour of shrimp farming in Thailand for April 4–7, 2016 (4 days and 3 Nights, Monday through Thursday) to give participants first hand knowledge of the Thai shrimp farming industry.

 

As part of the tour, participants will attend an in depth workshop on Biomimicry Organic Sustainable Shrimp Farming conducted by Veerasun Prayotamornkul at a hotel in Bangkok.

 

The tour will begin at the Singapore Airport with a flight to Phuket, Thailand, and will include visits to:

 

• A biomimicry broodstock farm and hatchery in Chaiya, Surat Thani

• A renowned “copefloc” recirculating shrimp farm

• An abalone farm and shrimp hatchery

• A visit to the Black Gold Tiger Broodstock Farm

• A visit to the Shrimp Genetic Improvement Institution

 

The Tour Includes: Airfare from Singapore to Thailand and back, hotels (2 to a room) and breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Travel insurance is not included.  Single rooms are available for $42 (advance request required).

 

Cost: IAS members, US$735; non-ISA members, US$873; non-refundable deposit, US$208.  Payment via check payable to Institution of Aquaculture Singapore, or email via Paypal.  Credit card payments will not be accepted.  Registration closes on February 29, 2016.
