CPF to Remove Fishmeal from Shrimp Feeds

Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) plans to replace the fishmeal protein in its shrimp feeds with protein from soybeans and grains.

Robins McIntosh, a senior executive at CPF, said a test showed that when fishmeal was left out of the feed, shrimp still grew at the normal rate.

Pornsilp Patcharintanakul, president of the Thai Feed Mill Association, is confident that with CPF leading the way, other feed-mill operators will remove fishmeal from their feeds within a couple of years.
