Thai Union Feedmill and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation Joint Venture in Shrimp Farming

 

Thai Union Feedmill, Co., Ltd. (TUF), the second largest Thai shrimp feed producer, has entered into a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corp., one of the largest trading companies in Japan, to farm shrimp in Thailand.

 

Rittirong Boonmechote, managing director of TUF’s shrimp business and president of Thai Union Feedmill Co., Ltd., said an initial investment of $18.8 million will eventually grow to $30.2 million for purchasing existing shrimp farms and setting up new environmentally friendly farms along the Thai coast.  The new venture hopes to produce of 10,000 metric tons of shrimp a year by 2018.
