California—Center for Aquaculture Technologies Hires Dr. Stephen Newman

Center for Aquaculture Technologies, Inc.  (CAT), a San Diego-based company offering a wide range of R&D and professional services to the global aquaculture community, is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Stephen G. Newman, the President of Aqua-In-Tech, Inc., as a consultant.  Dr. Newman will be working closely with CAT to promote genomic and genotyping solutions to shrimp and fish farming companies, government programs and other interested parties.

CAT helps clients design and implement cost effective programs for the genetic improvement of any aquaculture species.  It supports breeding programs by developing cost-effective pedigree assignment and traceability using genetic markers.  All work is conducted by a team of scientists who utilize bioinformatics, next generation sequencing platforms, and genotyping technologies customized to each project.  Feedback from lab based and field studies is analyzed to confirm for clients that selected goals of genetic improvement are met.  Consultation on the best genetic options available for a species, and cost versus projected genetic gain and return on investment are available.  Confidentiality and client security are a priority.
