Washington, DC—USA Shrimp Imports, First Quarter 2014

 

USA shrimp imports for the first three months of 2014 were up 14% over the same period in 2013.

 

Imports from India were up 33%, from Indonesia up 23%, from Vietnam up 78%, and from Ecuador up 23%.

 

The Urner Barry white shrimp price index is now down 8.4% from January 2014, and based on the index, average shrimp price have fallen back to where they were in August of 2013.

 

At a recent seafood show in Brussels, Belgium, falling shrimp prices were a big topic of conversation.
