Washington, DC—Shrimp Imports Fall by 20%

 

On August 6, 2013, USA shrimp imports for June 2013 were released, showing a drop of almost 20% from May 2013 and pushing year-to-date imports down 6.6%.

 

Thailand imports dropped 55% from May 2013 to June 2013, with year-to-date imports down 32%.  This is the largest percent decrease in imports from Thailand since its exports began dropping in October 2011.

 

Ecuador imports were also down sharply.  Between May and June 2013, they dropped 41.5%.

 

Imports from India and Vietnam were both higher for the month of June while imports from Indonesia were about even.
