Sherlock Shrimp was launched by Sherill Ryan and her husband Jeff in a refurbished elementary school (that Jeff once attended) in Ridgeway, Iowa.  The indoor farm raises shrimp 365 days a year.  Sherlock Shrimp has 40 above ground pools.  The smallest pool holds 1,710 gallons of water, the largest 3,600 gallons.  In addition to the pools, a tiered system has been built in the school’s gym to improve shrimp production.  The baby shrimp go in the top tank and come down through the tiers as they mature.  The baby shrimp come from a shrimp hatchery in the Florida Keys.
