Video—Biggest Shrimp Farm in Indiana

For a two-minute video of the biggest shrimp farm in Indiana, click on the link in the Source below.  In the video, Jerry Reinke, who owns Big Barn Shrimp Farm along with his wife, Cindy, says: “I read a magazine article about fish farming, and it got me thinking....  And really, the more I looked into it, it just sounded fun.”

Jerry said the farm was running out of large shrimp during the spring of 2014, so he decided to temporarily stop selling shrimp for two months to allow the shrimp to grow larger.  “I would like to be known for having big shrimp, more of the jumbo shrimp than popcorn sized shrimp,” said Reinke.  “So, we made the decision to close for the months of May and June.”

Big Barn will reopen on July 2, 2014.  The farm will host a shrimp boil on site July 4, 2014, to celebrate reopening for business.  It starts at 11 a.m. and lasts until 1 p.m.
