Nebraska—Ken Morrison Dies at 93

Kenneth Morrison, who developed the first large-scale shrimp hatchery and feed mill in Ecuador, died on January 6, 2015.  Morrison received the first Global Aquaculture Alliance Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 for his many enduring contributions to food and seafood production.  As a founding and governing member of GAA, his companies helped establish GAA and continued to support its expansion for 17 years.

During his long career, Morrison developed large-scale businesses involving grains, hogs, cattle, fishmeal, fishing and shrimp farming in North America, South America and Asia.

“Mr. Morrison was remarkably successful in a wide range of businesses,” said George Chamberlain, GAA president and business partner of Morrison. “While he had a commanding presence in business, his guiding principle was fairness.  In person, he was humble, adventurous and generous.”
