Lobster—Juvenile Seedstock Sells for $10.84 Each

In March 2014, fishermen in Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces on Vietnam’s central coast enjoyed bumper harvests of the juvenile lobsters that are stocked in floating-cage farms.  Each lobsters sells for between $9.50 and $16.00, and each fisherman catches from 20 to 30 juveniles a night, sometimes 100 a night, which adds up to a couple of hundred dollars to well over a thousand dollars a night.

In the Ghenh Rang District of Quy Nhon City in Binh Dinh Province, fishermen have harvested 70,000 juvenile lobsters worth $759,013, which averages out to $10.84 for each animal.
