Shrimp “Imports” in 2015

 

In 2015, Vietnam imported shrimp from 37 origins worth $426 million, down 10.7% from 2014.

 

India was the largest supplier to Vietnam, exporting shrimp worth an estimated $318 million, down 7.8% from 2014 and accounting for 74.7% of Vietnam’s shrimp imports.

 

According to the International Trade Centre (ITC), Vietnam is the second largest importer of Indian shrimp after the USA.  The peak months were July and August 2015 when Vietnam imported 8.0-8.6 thousand metric tons of shrimp from India with an average value of $7.00 to $7.60 a kilo.

 

In 2016, Vietnam will import shrimp worth an estimated $470 million, up 10% from 2015.
