Viet Uc Group Eyes Hi-Tech Shrimp Farming in Ca Mau Province

The Viet Uc Group, Vietnam’s leading producer of postlarvae (PLs), is seeking approval from Ca Mau Province to invest in hi-tech shrimp farming.  Luong Thanh Van, the group’s Chairman and CEO, said Ca Mau has the most favorable conditions for the project.  Mai Huu Chinh, Director of the Ca Mau’s Department of Planning and Investment, pledged to create favorable conditions for the group to carry out the project once it receives approval from local authorities.

In 2014, the Viet Uc Group produced 51 billion PLs, accounting for 22 percent of the country’s production.  Its $2.7 million hatchery in Ca Mau’s Ngoc Hien District, which began operations in May 2015, expects to produce 7 billion PLs a year.
