Jerome Thompson (1937 to 2005)

Jerome Thompson, a shrimp farming consultant for over thirty years and owner of Intensive Culture Systems, died of brain cancer on June 17, 2005.  He was 68 and died with his wife, Isabel, at his side.

Jerry was best known for his early belief in closed system shrimp farming and the design of a three-tiered production system that involved moving animals from small to large enclosures as they matured, thereby maintaining maximum biomass throughout the production cycle.  Later this design was adopted by Dr. Addison Lawrence at Texas A&M University and by the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute.
